YES IN MY Back Yard VISION

We envision an integrated society where every person has access to a safe, affordable home near jobs, services, and opportunity.

What We Do

Uphold housing law

Yes In My Back Yard reviews public records to identify cities that may be violating state housing law, informs cities of the possible violations, and, if necessary, files litigation to ensure that cities follow the law.

Train Housing Advocates

Yes In My Back Yard creates training resources to enable individuals to learn to effectively advocate for inclusive housing policies in their communities. We share the latest research about housing policy through articles, podcasts, and events.

mobilize supporters of new housing

Yes In My Back Yard helps individuals support new housing being built in their communities. We teach people how to organize others in their community to show up to hearings and write letters to planning commissions.

propose improvements to housing law

Based on what we see happening in housing law on the ground, we reach out to legislators to suggest improvements to the law to make it more effective.
